Here’s Chet’s best Brown from today! The fish were really lethargic due to the Browns being in Post Spawn! Surprisingly no Bows today! This area is a really scenic ...more place to fish!
Cold and slow day fishing the Colorado River today with Chet! The temps ranged from 35-44 degrees with partly/mostly cloudy skies! I caught this nice chunk 19” Brown ...more as well as a nice 18” Brown on a #5 & #7 Rapala Countdown in the Hot Mustard Muddler Pattern while Chet caught the first fish of the day a fat 18” Brown on a 1/16 oz Crappie Jig.Chet ended with the most numbers wise but I caught the best fish!
I fished the Colorado River today with my friend Lee for about 5 hours! It was a little slower than the last two trips numbers wise but after landing some decent ...more Browns on those trips I finally got into a nice chunky Bow on this trip as the sun was setting! I caught it using a Dynamic J-Spec in the Brown Trout Pattern!
I fished the Gunnison River in the East Portal section of the Black Canyon National Park today with really low flows landing 28 Trout! I had to get back down here ...more to fish because they close this road after the first good snow! It’s a 16% grade downhill with lots of switchback making it extremely dangerous, especially with icy conditions! The day was chilly with mostly cloudy skies!! I started the day off with five little Browns and then got into some decent vivid Bows on Rapala Countdowns! It wasn’t until the last couple of hours that the fishing really turned on.I lost two of my Dynamic J-Specs so I had to switch to a 3 1/8”” Rapala Husky Jerk in the Redfire Craw pattern which preceded to land me a 17” Bow and Brown! In the same area I pitched the Husky Jerk out again and got slammed by this nice 19” Male Brown! Fun day despite losing 3 Lures ,which is never good!
I stopped and did a “little” Bass fishing today on my way back from picking up some Dynamic Jerkbaits in Grand Jct! (60 miles) I know the owner and get a slight ...more discount! I caught quite a few hungry dinks both Largies and Smallies on Cranks and Jerkbaits. I did manage to get one decent one! But with the temps getting into the 30’s at night I guess I can’t complain! It was fun seeing the little aggressive bass hitting a Jerkbait half there size! I caught my best Largie and Smallie on a 2” square bill in a Crawdad pattern.
Great day on the Colorado River with my friend Chet! We started the day out with a small Brown then I hooked this beautiful 21” 3 lb spawner Male Brown on a Dynamic ...more J-Spec Fire Craw! Then Chet and I both landed a few chunk 18” Browns in the same hole. Then Chet started getting into quite a few chunk Bows including this 18” super chunk! He caught about (5) 18” chunk Bows on the Black Crappie Jig! We both landed over 20 fish! All in all a fantastic day despite the gloomy weather conditions that dominated most of the day!
