Went out for wild and native trout today. Ended up getting too many browns and bows to count but got this really nice looking brookie!

Stuck it out even after getting skunked in the morning going for lakers. It definetely paid off since I ended up getting 15 wild trout with the average size being ...more around 10 inches. Lost a 20 incher which was disappointing but it just gives me all the more reason to come back soon

I gotta say, native brook trout are my favorite fish to catch. Went up to ny state and targeted them in some small beaver ponds.

i'd love to find some nice ones like that here in jersey, but seems rare to find one bigger than 6-8 inches. used to get big 16-19" stocked ones but now ...more they don't stock them anymore and they never had nice color like this one anyway
