  3. What happened to this bass? I’m thinking he escaped the beak of a heron or talons of a raptor when he was younger. Clearly the kink in his back and lack of spiny ...more dorsal fin isn’t slowing him down at all. Even with the tail of a baby bullhead catfish sticking out of his throat, he still didn’t pass up a Zoom worm dessert!

14 in. Largemouth Bass with a Zoom Speed Worm

    1. Scott S 0
That's one lucky bass. I bet he is second guessing eating that purple worm, but still lived to tell about it.
    2. Shawn Gearinger 0
Probably a heron or egret got ahold of him when he was younger. An eagle's talons would have punctured the swim bladder and the fish would die even if it managed ...more to get away.
    3. Mark Murphy 0
Nice. I was out this morning and nothing. Tough one.
    4. Capt Morris Campbell 0
some predator almost had a Bass dinner😁

The worst is when you’re crappie fishing, think you have a giant and a lil 2lb bass comes up. Heartbreaker 🀣

Lots of carp at Harris now. Very concerned with bass populations dwindling due to destruction of vegetation by these carp. Kill them all Kaitlin.

There are so many stories running around about these carp. Either way they have destroyed Shaeron Harris in the past 2 years for being the bass habitat it use to ...more be. I could catch 5 bass on any given day, all ranging from 3-5lbs. Now I am lucky to catch a 3-5lb bass at all. It’s sad thet duke and NCW has let this go, and their answer has been setting up fish habitats in lieu of killing all the hydrila. They also said these carp are sterile, however I’ve seen them rummaging through the weeds during their spawn. They also live in excess of 20+ years so it will be a while, if ever, when Shaeron Harris returns to the way it was.
    6. Mike A. 0
Kaitlin-Thanks for that reply. I had no idea how many there were….understood. Keep up the good shooting.

    8. Scott S 0
Kill em all Kait...only good carp is a dead carp...lol
    9. Kaitlin Lospinoso 0
Mike, these guys are no good! Duke Energy stocked 10,000 of them in this tiny reservoir with the sole purpose of removing hydrilla that was supposedly clogging their ...more intake, but now they’ve removed every shred of native aquatic vegetation as well. Without the aquatic plants to filter sediment from runoff at the shorelines, water quality has taken a nosedive. Those weed beds also provided incredible cover for bass, shad, and other native fish. The shallow water fishery used to be second-to-none on Shearon Harris, now it’s a thing of the past.
