Set that hook underweight , keep the line tight , rod up and loaded. ..
    3. @Debbie, check your hooks, make sure the hook point hasn't rolled or gotten damaged.
    4. Very nice Shawn! šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»

  3. Weather not cooperating on the weekend, but managed one good one 4.5lbs on a double fluke rig with a white fluke.

4 lb. 9 oz. Largemouth Bass with a Fluke

    1. nice one
    2. Thanks Tim.
    3. Tim Drawdy 0
      Nice one Shawn
    4. @Max, it is easiest to use a spinning rod for the double fluke rig, in med or med/heavy. The big ones can get you wrapped up in the grass so 30 lb braid for main ...more line and 20 lb flouro for leaders. Try it out in your part of the US it should work well.
    5. @Robert, we are getting some heavy rains and lots of lightning today. Guess it's a good time to watch the Masters tournament.šŸ˜”šŸ˜”
    6. Double fluke rig is a fluke on a leader that is tied to a barrel swivel then tied to main line, with a barrel swivel that can slide up the main line also with a ...more leader and a second fluke. You can look on you tube and see it also. You twitch it through the hay grass. It is deadly on bass this time of year.
    7. Max Cobb 0
      Double fluke? What's that?
    8. Very nice Shawn! šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ» Weather definitely not getting any better for you!šŸ˜ŸšŸ˜ŸšŸ˜Ÿ

  4. Not a great picture, but notice the black spots on the fins and tail, caught on a 1/2oz white spinner baits over a creek bed

Largemouth Bass with a spinner bait

    1. I am using a half ounce spinner baits with a single Colorado blade, letting it sink near bottom then slow roll it and stop occasionally. Strikes usually come on ...more the pauses. No trailer, just a trailer hook. Using both white/chartreuse and chartreuse with gold blade.
    2. Eric Rooney 0
Do you let the lure fall before starting your retrieve? Slow rollin it in? Been trying to get myself to throw them off the bank but my patience gets to me sometimes. ...more Trailer?

  9. Caught several on vibrating jig. Lake is very high and still rising. Most bites were in 8 - 10ft over flooded brush.

Largemouth Bass with a vibrating jig

    1. Thanks for the info Shawn
  10. Caught several on a-rigs and vibrating jig. Lake is very high and only a few ramps are still open. If you are coming to Rayburn be very careful running the lake, ...more there are a lot of floaters and debris.

    3 lb. Largemouth Bass with a A-rig

    1. Andy, the southend below like Caney/Veach is clearing up, above that to north of the bridge is progressively mudder but definitely fishable. Believe it or not the ...more dirty water is producing better.
    2. Andy Ferrell 0
Nice job...what color is the water now? Chocolate milk or improving?
    3. Daniel Mitchel 0
      Nice bass!
    4. We are at flood pool on Rayburn, so we sure don't need any more!

Fish for mostly largemouth but enjoy catching crappie in the summer time. Really anything that tugs on the other end of the line is fun to catch.

Fishing Favorites

  • Species Largemouth and crappie
  • Waterway Big Sam and Toledo Bend
  • Lure C-rig is my fav, then crankbaits, shakey head jigs, football jigs and senkos. I am learning to fish deep structure more. Still working on that first ten pounder. Personal best is an 8.3lb.
