1. Caught on a red chatterbait in 7 ft of water over the grass. The lake is rising steady so the grass is out to ten feet in some places. Getting real good for traps, ...more chatterbait, and jerk baits. Should be a good spawn this year.

    3. Bill I was looking for creek bends in about 15 ft of water. Graph them and if the shad are around there will be good fish. Crank baits 5 or 6xd and c-rigs. I wouldn't ...more spend much time at each spot. Cover lots of water.

    3. Yes B. W. it has stabilized since the high water and is improving. The grass is making a comeback which is the life of the bass population. Just as long as it stays ...more stable and we don't get a flood it will be a great year for fishing.
    4. Been seeing a lot of good reports from old Sam. Lake has made a good comeback.

Nice job Shawn! We fished Bass Champs on Rayburn Saturday and caught 15 bass but only had 12 lbs. We needed close to 17 lbs to place.

Fish for mostly largemouth but enjoy catching crappie in the summer time. Really anything that tugs on the other end of the line is fun to catch.

Fishing Favorites

  • Species Largemouth and crappie
  • Waterway Big Sam and Toledo Bend
  • Lure C-rig is my fav, then crankbaits, shakey head jigs, football jigs and senkos. I am learning to fish deep structure more. Still working on that first ten pounder. Personal best is an 8.3lb.
