1. Details: Black Crappie with a 1/8 oz Blue and black jig/ bass pro crappie Combo/ 8lbs high vis yellow crappie master line

I finally got the chance to go fishing recently after having so much school work that I didn't have time to fish. This crappie was cough right under the boat ...more dock in about 8 FOW- could see to the bottom easily. The fish were schooling up all together ( bass, crappie, sunfish) under the boats. Had trouble getting the first bite but after that we stated catching. 67 degrees out with 15mph winds...

Making it difficult to take out the john boats. Off and on rain also did not help either. The lake level was down a lot but is starting to recover with all the recent ...more rain.

  3. Do you need 4x4 to launch a boat on a boat ramp?

    1. cole_agouridis 0
True @Reel_Smooth there just a lot more expensive. I really want a 4x4 truck but a nice one with under 75,000 miles on it is out of my budget
    2. Reel_Smooth 0
Why would you not pick a 4x4 if your an outdoorsman period? Lol!! To many advantages to not pick a 4x4. If no 4x4 you better have a winch. Life saver even for 4x4's
    3. fishinfool23 0
My neighbor lost truck on the boat ramp once, not fun, 4wheel drive is obviously better for that, but as long as your careful, you should be fine with 2 wheel drive
    4. Gabe Mitchell 0
Usually no, but never know when the ramp will be covered in algae and be super slick

  4. I am looking to buy a truck ( first car) and want one to be able to pull a boat b/c once I get a car I will get a boat. Do I need 4x4? V6 vs v8? Toyota Tundra 5.7 ...more vs chevy 5.3? Also I found a demo 2014 chevy Silverado double cab v6 2x4. Any good?

    1. Gabe Mitchell 0
4x4 help at slippery boat ramps. Any 1/2 ton (full size) truck can pull a ranger bass boat. All newer trucks have great quality and reliability. I prefer Chevys
    2. Jacob Breaux 0
Definitely something you'd want to research a whole lot before pulling the trigger
    3. Jacob Breaux 0
Rangers are pretty heavy. I'd say make sure you get at least a v8 half ton sized (1500) truck
    4. cole_agouridis 0
      @MulletHead @matt @bassinboy01 any thoughts
    5. cole_agouridis 0
@OhioFish it will be around a 20 foot bass boat. Probably a ranger
    6. cole_agouridis 0
      I wish I could @txfisherman713

      Thats his first truck

You can always go like @95txmf and get you a king ranch diesel f250 lol
    9. OhioFish 0
Depending on the size of boat a half size will pull it fine. My ranger will haul a shit tone. And a rangers better than a s10 or Sonoma or Dakota. Get a 94 ranger ...more with the 4.0L.

  5. Details: Blacktip Shark with a Hollow core vs sold core braid for LBSF Jerry brown vs power pro

What are yalls thought on best types of braid for shark fishing. Need to respool soon and wanted some advise!

    1. cole_agouridis 0
      Thanks@ kp_fisher
    2. kp_fisher 0
And with the mono I would try to get at least 150-200 yards
    3. kp_fisher 0
      Braid* not praise
    4. kp_fisher 0
Point and tie it off with floss and supper glue There are a couple videos on how to tie that knot
    5. kp_fisher 0
Fill the reel 2/3 or 3/4 the way to the top of what ever pound test praise you decide (I would use normal power pro) and double uni to the hollow point and feed ...more about 6-5 foot of the mono in the holow
    6. cole_agouridis 0
Avet trx 50w and 130-200 lb test with a topshot @Cowboy713
    7. garrett weiss 0
Depends what kind of reel on my avet 80 wide I got 800 yards of 140 jb hollow and 100 lb mono to fill the spool about 300 hundred yards of it.

  6. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Money and knowledge

Needed someone to put tension on my spool while filling my reels and no one was available so came up with this. Very easy to make. Instructions below: Material: 5/8 ...more in threaded rod (2 ft) 2 5/8 in nuts 4 5/8 in washers ( the biggest ones they have that are that diameter) 2 springs ( size can very depending on pressure) Assembling: Nut, washer, spring, washer, spool, washer, spring, nut, washer

I just put a pencil in it and lodge it in one of my boots (that I'm not wearing)

This one will produce a solid 30lbs of pressure with max tension but to achieve that pressure you need someone to hold the base or put a heavy weight on the bottom. ...more Don't need the base unless your DIY

The two biggest redfish I caught fishing with @Will_Agouridis. Weighed in at about 13 lbs each. 82 degrees out with a slight breeze. Fishing 13 FOW. Lots of bait ...more present by the points. Caught some bigger ones but released them. Right now live bait is key. Tried some soft plastics and got a few but not as big as the ones on live and they did not bit as fast as on live

  8. After loosing 2 sharks due to being under gunned on my international 30w I'm in the market for a new reel. I'm thinking 50 or 80w Avet or Okuma. What are ...more y'all's thoughts. Avet trx 50w vs 80w vs okuma 50w? Also line recomendations. 200 lbs power pro vs 130 lbs jerry brown hollow core vs 80 lbs mono.

Bull Shark with a In the market for a new shark reel

    1. Texas_Slam 0
Avet 50w you will not get spooled if you use it right. Don't slap full on the fish unless you really need to because that 50w will put out too much drag out ...more quick!
    2. fishingmatt 0
Avet though so I can't speak for them. The Penns are easy to use and easy to maintain
    3. fishingmatt 0
I have a Penn senator 9/0 with 80# braid and a 65# mono top shot, I think it can handle pretty much anything I'll be dealing with in Texas and it is much cheaper ...more than the Avets. I've never owned an
    4. garrett weiss 0
I would go with and 80 makira they are bigger and have plenty of drag
    5. cole_agouridis 0
      80w makira @garrettjweiss and 50w trx
    6. garrett weiss 0
      Makria
    7. garrett weiss 0
      What size malaria
    8. cole_agouridis 0
Just saw I can get the okuma makira and the avet trx 50w for the same price. What would y'all choose and why? @mredus8 @matt @MullettHead @garrettjweiss @Capt_Jack
    9. cole_agouridis 0
      Alright thanks. @mredus8
    10. mredus8 0
Up. You do what you want to but that's how I would do it
    11. mredus8 0
It does get cut no matter what. But the reason is to put more line on the reel. Hollow core will lay down flat so you can put more on the reel. That's how everybody ...more I know in Florida sets there reels
    12. cole_agouridis 0
@mredus8 I though braid gets cut easy from shells and stuff and you want lots more mono. So would hollow core act different than solid core?
    13. mredus8 0
As much line as you can fit. If your going to be in Florida like you said then fill it with as much braid as you can. You only need a small top shot for shock. 200lb ...more at least dew to the reefs there
    14. cole_agouridis 0
How much line and what pound test do you recommend and or use? @mredus8
    15. mredus8 0
You need more to be able to hold more line and more drag to stop the sharks before they hit a reef
    16. cole_agouridis 0
@mredus8 is that with all sizes?
    17. Swamp Mafia 0
Many of the "gold" reels are also great, but they all catch fish, and it gets into personal preference.
    18. Swamp Mafia 0
50 or 80 avet has so much drag that I don't think you would ever feel out gunned ever again. The only down side to those reels is the price, and if that's ...more not an issue that go that route.
    19. mredus8 0
AVETS are not made to run all mono. If you do they will mess up. Jerry brown is the way to go. 80w will give you the line capacity you need to have.
    20. Chris Skinner 0

      Drag
    23. cole_agouridis 0
Do you think 610 yards of 60 lbs mono is enough @MullettHead I know the drags powerful enough (117 lbs on the trx) I know I'll have to eventually put braid on ...more it though if I want to ever use it's full
    24. Gabe Mitchell 0
I look for drag and spool capacity. Both are good reels, the Avets have a cult following from TX sharkers. I always choose mono if I hve the spool capacity. ...more Never tried hollow core though
    25. garrett weiss 0
I have avet 80/w with 130 jb hollow with 100lb mono topshot I love it
