Figured I'd see what the hype is about and pick up a h2o Express Mettle. Why not when it's on sale for $40!

    1. TxFishing13 0
@red_psycho Not yet man. Got a trip scheduled for early October. School and football season is time consuming! Sure feels good just messing around with it. We'll ...more see how it handles fish.
    2. red_psycho 0
@TxFishing13 have you tried it out yet? What kind and size line do you have on it? I am going to buy one tonight

    9. Saltyhank 0
I have one. It's pretty smooth for the price. Great reel.
    10. TxFishing13 0
@TXfisherman97 Yeah man for sure. 10 bearings 6:3:1 gear ratio and a braking system similar to a shimano reel. Took me a while to find an academy with them in stock ...more especially when they are on sale.
    11. Will Engle 0
Cool deal, I'll look into buying one! @TxFishing13
    12. TxFishing13 0
@TXfisherman97 Sure will. I've heard it holds up well in salt and if anything on it breaks you take it back to academy and they will give you a new one no questions ...more asked even without a receipt.
    13. Will Engle 0
Let me know how it works out, I've been looking for a good inexpensive baitcaster @TxFishing13
    14. TxFishing13 0

    9. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 sweet dude, I'll definitely have to try it out one day! Know of any other decent spots in the NW area? Btw I'm a gold member now so u can PM ...more me the location if ya want
    10. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x Yes I could walk to that spot in just a few minuets. Lots of neighborhood lakes with small bass but this had been my main big fish spot.
    11. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 I see it now! Dang I didn't realize there were so many neighborhood lakes in that area. Do you live out that way?
    12. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x Oh ok. It's on the corner of west road and barker cypress. If you look on google earth you should find it. It's a huge mini lake. Can't ...more miss it.
    13. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 I can't see the locations because I'm not a gold member. I'm trying to upgrade but the app won't let me
    14. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x the creek I was referring to runs under 249.
    15. fizzpot 0
Lots of dinks. A few 2+s. Caught that 5+ right after a storm.
    16. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x it's an old quarry kind of like a giant mini lake. Gets up to 80 ft deep. Some monsters in there! Huge bass crappie catfish and bluegill.
    17. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x click on my profile & click the purple pin. It'll show 2 blerts with exact locations. That spot holds huge fish. Caught my PB there seen several ...more 7,8's and a 13lber caught there.
    18. gr82bstr8 0
      @TxFishing13 under 529 or 249?
    19. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 I'm still fairly new to freshwater fishing and I've never caught a bass over 2lbs =\ been trying to find a place that holds large fish!
    20. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x No I haven't. I know a small creek runs under 529 next to the pond not sure what's in It and if it leads to that pond or not.
    21. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x @fizzpot Is that 5 the biggest you've caught out there?
    22. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 Nice! I always practice c&r. I dont eat fish just like to catch em. I'll try to go there next weekend. The other side of the pond across 249 ...more looks real promising too. Have u fished there?
    23. fizzpot 0
I actually throw weightless plastics almost exclusively now when out there. Too much algae and crap most of the time.
    24. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x Great place for topwater and flipping and pitching. Biggest I've seen caught here is a nice 5 lber @fizzpot caught
    25. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x I just park in the YMCA Parking lot and walk to the pond. Not a member and have never been asked or questioned. It's a public pond just catch and ...more release and keep it nice for others.
    26. gr82bstr8 0
@TxFishing13 I've never fished there but I've always wanted to. Where do you park & do you have to be a YMCA member do fish there?
    27. TxFishing13 0
@xgr82bstr8x Cypress Creek YMCA off 249
    28. gr82bstr8 0

Nice man. That spot looks great for a bullfrog colored frog. I use booyah frogs myself but best of luck froggin dude
    37. TxFishing13 0
@shadow21488 I either throw a h2o express frog or a koppers live target. I usually use natural Colors. I find those work best in the ponds I fish.
    38. Dave Impagliazzo 0
What kind of frog you using? @TxFishing13
    39. TxFishing13 0
@fishin_man Couple blowups only landed a couple 1-2 lbers.

    9. Conley Foeh 0
      Which charter did y'all use?
    10. TxFishing13 0
@speckcatcher Oh no. Was way to big to be a snapper. My guess is a big shark or grouper.
    11. Conley Foeh 0
