Details: Jack Crevalle with a 6 inch dead spanish sardines ties with a 40 pound test leader with a 2 ounce egg sinker. We free lined the sardines until they hit the floor, ...more we then locked up the reel and waited for the fish.
Weather conditions were great, we did get into a little rain but the ocean stayed flat. We caught these jacks back to back and were a ton of fun. They had very powerful ...more runs that made the reels scream. Both of them were no less than 35 pounds. Overall they were fun to catch, but unfortunately you cannot eat them, so we cut them up and and will use them as bait for another day.
Details: Greater Amberjack with a 8 inch live goggle eye off the bottom. Used a 50 foot 60 pound test mono leader and 10 ounce egg sinker to hold it in place. I dropped it ...more right on the edge of the wreck to avoid snag ups.
The weather was beautiful, absolutely no wind, nice and bright most of the day, and the current was going in. The water was crystal clear all day making it easy ...more to spot fish on top. This fishing was 200 feet down and punished me every second on the way up. I honestly felt like I had run a marathon when we finally got it in the boat. Defiantly a fun fish to catch just a lot of work to it.
Details: Other Snapper with a Mutton Snapper
I just moved to Florida from Texas and have tried mutton snapper fishing 3 or 4 times with no luck. I live in the west palm area. Anyone have any tips to help me ...more out. Much appreciated.
Details: Greater Amberjack with a 6 ounce cigar minnow butterfly jig tied to green 80 pound test power pro with a double clinch knot. My setup was a 560 penn slammer with ...more 40 weight class slammer rod.
Beautiful day, the seas were super flat and water clarity was unbelievable. Although the great conditions, the fish weren't biting much, I tried a little jigging ...more and this jack nailed it. I would drop the jig so it drifted across the wreck as it went down, then I jigged it against the current, working it over the whole structure. We ended up catching a couple tuna and jacks this way.
Details: Largemouth Bass with a Mirrolure 83MR-NSCH She Dog 4" tied with green 50 pound power pro braid tied with a double clinch knot. My setup was a penn slammer 260 ...more with the 6-14 pound berkley cherrywood rod.
Had a lot of trouble getting to the lake, by the time we got there we only had about 40 minutes to fish and it was slim pickings. Temperatures where mid 80s, water ...more clarity was ok, and the wind was kicking at 20 mph. I was retrieving the she dog at a medium speed giving it the action of a walk the dog and was working it over swirls. In our last minutes of fishing I hooked up with this good bass.
Details: Largemouth Bass with a Neon yellow and green spinner bait tied with green 50 pound power pro line. My set up was a 260 penn slammer with my new Berkley cherrywood ...more rod.
The weather was high 80's and it was very sunny, the water had a very brown tinge though. It was a slow day, but I found a small patch of weeds and casted right ...more by it and ended up hooking this bucket mouth. It gave a tremendous fight with several good runs. We only caught a couple, but this one was worth it in the end.
Details: Largemouth Bass with a Neon yellow and black spot grasshopper feather fly tied with 9 feet of 8 pound mono leader, tied to fly line with an alberto knot.
Kind of cloudy and very humid today, but still got out to go fish. First cast and I got a hook up, though this is one of the bigger bass I've caught out of this ...more lake, there was pretty much no fight for some reason. Also caught a couple bluegill but since it has been raining so much there were so many mosquitos and the drove me to leave pretty quickly.
Details: Channel Catfish with a Neon green and yellow medium size spinner bait tied with a double clinch knot with green 50 pound power pro line, worked at a medium speed.
Well I guess this proves that the hat has some power. This monster hit like a freight train and did not give up easily, I fought it for about 10 minutes. The fight ...more was so exciting that it drew a crowd from the bonefish restaurant. This picture doesn't really show of its belly, but it was a very fat fish. The weather was is the 70s, some wind, and water pretty murky.
Details: Bluegill Sunfish with a Five hook sabiki rig with chunks of hotdog.
