  2. Details: Black Crappie

I went out to Cherry Creek Reservoir this morning on a friend's boat. Water temp was 65, light wind, bluebird skies. We trolled some flats looking for walleye. ...more My buddy caught three keeper eyes (18+) and a nice crappie. I was striking out, but saved the day with a decent little crappie. The lake was a zoo... First couple nice days in forever and the pleasure boaters are out in force!!!

  3. Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

5 day countdown until I'm back in Alaska... Getting it in as much as possible in the lower 48. Drove from Denver to Riverton, dropped my truck at my sister's, ...more and drove back. Stopped at the world famous Grey Reef on the N. Platte out of Alcova. Proceeded to destroy fish on the fly. Nothing huge, great numbers. Usually it would be blown out this time of year, but it's only 500 CFS at the moment.

  4. Started the day diving through a blizzard to one of my favorite Middle Park lakes... The fish weren't having it. We saw several pike and had a few show moderate ...more interest, but they are spawny or just post-spawny and have a serious case of the lockjaw. Jerks, tubes, swimbaits, etc. Did get attacked on the swimbait by a 10+ mack and decided to set the hook before she bit ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Peeped the CO. Blown out.

  5. Details: Other Freshwater with a Let it snow.

After a winter with temps into the 70s, Mother Nature threw us another curve here in CO. It dumped about 6-7 inches last night, and temps are in the 30s. It should ...more be interesting to see how the bass react... Might tempt them to scatter, or it could lock them up for a few days. It's always interesting to see how these freak weather events affect the fish. If anything, the walleye should love it.

@FishAK5280 we should go fishing sometime. I'm new to the area & I don't really know any spots.
    4. King_Fisher 0
Yeah sometimes it will make them really eat!
    5. FishAK5280 0
@King_Fisher you just never know. It will probably slow the bass down for a day or two, but sometimes I have great days in strange out of season conditions like ...more this.
    6. King_Fisher 0
      Well that must suck!

      Nice
  7. Details: Largemouth Bass with a 5 inch watermelon Senko, Texas-rigged

After a successful "urban bassing" this morning (see previous blert), I headed out after after a couple more classes to chase lip. The conditions were ...more perfect, broken clouds, rain here and there, and sunshine too... Wild. Started nailing some yellow perch on a Gulp minnow and caught a nice bass, so I threw on the senko. Texas rigged, working slowly in cover, nailed a few nice chunky largies.

Nice green trout you got there sir! @FishAK5280
  8. Details: Largemouth Bass with a 4 inch Gulp minnow and plain 1/16oz jighead

I had a few minutes to spare this morning in between classes and hit a local park pond for about thirty minutes. I had never fished there before, and having minimal ...more time, grabbed a rod with a shiner pattern 4 inch gulp minnow and started casting. Pop jogging off the bottom, got nailed by a much nicer bass than expected. Overcast skies, chilly, mid 40s May morning, murky, grimy water.

  9. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Square bill crank, red crawfish pattern

Hit a local pond in the pouring rain today. Fast retrieve Ito the wind with the shallow doing square-bill produced some nice northern strain largies.

  10. Details: Smallmouth Bass with a Husky Jerk perch pattern

Shot out to Chatfield for a quick trip after work and caught a handful of smallies on a husky jerk fishing into the wind. It is just starting to rain, and the fish ...more are reacting.

About

I live in Denver and fish locally for trout, bass, walleye, pike, lakers, and anything else that bites. In the summer and fall I guide for a ...more fly-in lodge in southeast Alaska. Conventional, flies, ice fishing... Doesn't make a difference to me.
