1. Details: Longnose Gar

He took his time with the bait. Basically, he put it in his mouth and didn't swim off. I wasn't sure when to set it so I waited about a minute before he ...more began to swim. We had a nice fight. He flew up out of the water but it was dark so I wasn't sure if I had a gar or a catfish.

  2. Details: Channel Catfish

Fun night. Was not out long. Caught a gar and catfish about a minute apart. Catfish was decent 27". Caught on a tiny rid. It was fun reeling him in. Rod was ...more bent way over.

@CherokeeMac I fished there before without luck! I'm looking for a nice spot for big catfishing around Sugar Land or near by....
    3. CherokeeMac 0
@Santos not too often. Lately I started going there without my rod just checking what was going on in the water. Noticed tons of small fish so I figured fishing ...more might heat up. I never caught much b4
    4. Santos 0
How often do you fish at Buffalo Run Park? @CherokeeMac
    5. N2Deep 0

      @Keiotta
    3. CherokeeMac 0
@bassgetter I had no plan for Crappie. We were fishing for baitfish to use later on catfish. All I used were crappie nibbles. I hear there are crappie at George ...more Bush park. Buffalo Run gets good in oc
    4. bassgetter 0

  4. Details: Bowfin

For those interested in Bowfin, this is the spot. Even my wife connected...briefly. Be ready to reel with speed. A gator came up out of the water and grabbed a big ...more one as I had just managed to get it to the dock. There seems to be a zone all in casting distance where you can see bowfin. We fished from 7 to 10 am. Caught a ton of pan fish once the gator returned. Have fun!

    1. Nathan Morgan 0
bowfin are a lot of fun. thanks for the tip

Last time I was out there the gators were having a field day with the frogs. Saw them get 5-10 frogs in twenty minutes.

  5. Details: Largemouth Bass

I was leaving. It was 9pm. At the last moment, ten feet from having the lake behind me, I decided on one more cast. I even kept this big bag on my lap. He hit the ...more moment the lure hit the water. My pole bent and he was off for the weeds. We fought until he wore out. Once in he was too tired to even move. Put him back in. Biggest bass I ever caught. Fun

    1. CherokeeMac 0
@whitebass_81 no I have no issues with weight. I am not into the biggest fish. I just fish. It was short and heavy. Wide angle lens doesn't help.
    2. whitebass_81 0
2.5 or maybe 3 but I don't want to be the weight police so tight lines
    3. whitebass_81 0
I wouldn't say this is anywhere close to doubles and it looks like a solid
    4. CherokeeMac 0
@whitebass_81 bigger. This thing just started to pull my drag with ease. He weighed more than this five pound weight I keep in the car. This guy wasn't the longest ...more fish I have caught, just heavy.
    5. whitebass_81 0
Nice one how big? 3 ish?
    6. ReelFishnTx 0
      Nice one! Congrats man!

    10. CherokeeMac 0
@bassgetter thanks man. I wish I could have gotten a good photo holding him. Holding my wheelchair, the bass and camera made good pics difficult. He was just hanging ...more out near the drain about 30 ft out
    11. bassgetter 0
@CherokeeMac nice 1 bro... hell of a way to end the night

  6. Details: Largemouth Bass

Fishing is crazy. I started before sunrise at White Lake where I hooked up with three quick bass. None made it to me. They beat me by tangling themselves in lily ...more pads. On the way home I saw American Legion Park. Instead of trying the lake, I just fished this spot. Instantly connected with a small bass. He took the lure and headed for the drain pipes. What is your most unexpected catch? Location?

    1. CherokeeMac 0
@bassgetter I have only been there once. It was afternoon, hot and I still managed to catch one bass. Lately had luck at White Lake early morn. Big diversity of ...more fish there.
    2. bassgetter 0
say @CherokeeMac do u have much luck out there?. I drove by there today just to scout looks nice. any help with ant tips on lure selections would be great
    3. bassgetter 0

I saw these boxes of plastics and hard baits on sale at Walmart near W Belfort, 610, s. Post Oak. They have tons.

    1. Makz Jaramillo 0
Feel like all the walmarts near me got rid of their clearance fishing sections. A real bummer I tell ya
  8. Details: Channel Catfish

Fun morning. Hit several ponds with varying degrees of success. Okay, that means I caught three fish in four hours. Learned some good stuff though. I found a carp ...more fisherman's dream spot in Sugar Land. Anyone interested in seeing what we can pull out of this spot with se real planning?

  9. Details: Bluegill Sunfish

Went to see Brazos Bend. Fished in heat of the day. Only caught some bluegill in the end. Went for bass. Loads of alligators, alligator gar, spotted gar, and bowfin ...more all visible from fishing pier. A fisherman I ran into told me he has good results with frogs near the lily pads and lake edge. Another told me he lost a lure to a gator the day before. Enjoy!

    1. Geoffrey Polefko 0
It's a baby jump in and wrestle it
    2. Bob Bob 0
I'm glad there's no alligators near Dallas with the stuff I do I would have lost a leg by now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  10. Details: Bowfin

Great morning at Culliman Park. Might have the name wrong. Off of HWY 6 near Sugar Land. Saw plenty of fish. The Bowfin was fun to catch. Sharp teeth.

    1. David Willson 0
      Them in
    2. David Willson 0
Hahaha I wouldn't either๐Ÿ˜‚. That pond looks like you could wrestle some big bass on frogs. Just make sure that if u wanna feel that tug to use HEAVY LINE! I'm ...more talking about like 50-65 lb braid to get
    3. CherokeeMac 0
@lewsiscool truth be told I didn't know they had teeth. I won't lip one again. There are a lot bass there. A gator took my first frog. I am still waiting ...more to feel a bass take a frog.
    4. David Willson 0
That's awesome, lipping a bowfin๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. You should go back to that pond and try frogging for bass. It looks like a good lil honey hole
    5. CherokeeMac 0
@aesthetic_legacy she went crazy. At first I thought I had a big bass. The elephant ear and lily pads were so thick I couldn't see what I had until she was right ...more under me. Total blast.
    6. aesthetic_legacy 0
Did she jump a lot? Those fish are great fighters
    7. CherokeeMac 0
@ChanceHuiet not so much a "bad man" as a mad man. I had no idea. I grabbed it before I knew what was there. Came away with a bit of my own blood but all ...more is good. Who needs ten fingers?
    8. Drew72 0
First and last time?! ๐Ÿ˜ nice catch though.
    9. CherokeeMac 0
He basically swallowed the lure while. Hook was out the gill. Sharp teeth. Don't hold one like I am.
    10. Jean-Pierre Alkarra 0
      howed did you lip him?!๐Ÿ˜‚
