1. Overcast day with mild wind. Water was very chilly due to the massive amount of rain and releasing that LCRA has been doing. I was paddling over some sandy flats ...more with a little vegetation that had began to grow and saw this guy cruising off to my right. First cast got him interested, second cast he followed, and the third cast he crushed the fly from a few feet away. Really cool to watch unfold

  2. Wind was picking up due to the front that was moving in Saturday. I decided to use it to my advantage and drift over a flat of growing vegetation. It was sunset ...more and saw a little bit of top water action, I did my best to mimic it. My second time drifting and fan casting over the flat, this post spawn 6# destroyed the spook 15 ft from the yak. Wind 10-15, water temp mid high 60s, 2ft clarity

  3. Details: Red (redfish) Drum

Went out with a guide (Eric Glass) yesterday and had a great time sight fishing for big redfish and trout. The day started slow with high winds (15+ mph) and very ...more murky water. After a little bit of searching we managed to find some crystal clear water and finally got on some fish. As the day went on the wind died and the fishing conditions got even better, leading to more fish.

The sheep head should still be there if not a few reds and trout

@reidster11 the trout were much more explosive, but they didn't fight as long as the redfish. I hooked two bigger trout, but they outran me on the strike-strip ...more and broke me off.

heck yeah man! solid fish! I bet that was a blast on the fly.

  5. Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

Got out on the river early Saturday with @logan_walters123. Air temp was cold enough to freeze the eyes over (30-32). Found a nice hole after Rapids that the fish ...more were stacked up in. It took a while to get them to bite, but they finally started to cooperate. Hooked three nice fish, but only managed to land this one. Hopefully I'll get to make it down there again soon and redeem myself.

@TennesseeTroutboy I'm honestly not too sure. I've only I fished it a handful of times. The trout aren't native so they aren't too picky, but getting ...more them to bite isn't always easy

  6. What a fish to start the year with! Went out early this morning and landed this 8-9lb beast. First cast I was working the spook parallel to structure through schools ...more of shad and he destroyed it. Hooked it in maybe 12 FOW, water temp was chilly, air temp was high 30s to low 40s, and mostly clear skies. The very next cast I lost another 6-8lber, he jumped once and spit the spook. Tight lines y'all!

I'm just saying there's a lot of weight between 8-9 and having a scale is just better to have than guessing
    2. BassHunter1 0
No no no. I'm sure it's around 8 I'm just aaying that people sometimes don't believe u unless u have a scale
    3. Bo_Wiltshire 0
@BassHunter1 are you implying that this fish isn't 8-9?
    4. BassHunter1 0
      You need a scale

@garrettgilmer you can, but you can't run a gas motor so you can only use your trolling motor to get around. Plus, the boat ramp is way down the lake so it's ...more hard to get to the fish
    7. garrettgilmer 0
Can you put a boat in ladybird? Nice fish!

  7. Kind of a slow day. Started off throwing a hollow body frog and had a few swipes, but nothing fully committed. With no luck on that I switched over to punching into ...more the matted fanworks. Within a few pitches I boated this 19.5" and maybe thirty minutes later I stuck an 18". Not too much action, but those two fish won me the first WHS angling tournament of the year.

  8. Spent the morning working the shore and outer edges of the grass with @yich4. Launched the frog under a low hanging tree, let's rings dissipate, began walking ...more the frog out from under the tree with a few pauses every couple of feet and this 7lb toad destroyed it. 2-4 ft clarity, partially cloudy, water temp in the high seventies, caught in 3-6 FOW.

  9. Got a few bites hopping/ ripping the worm through the grass with @yich4, but for this one I let the worm sit for a few seconds after it hit the the grass. This 7lber ...more just took off with it like a freight train in 5-7 FOW, it almost ripped the rod out of my hands. Water temp was pretty chilly from all the rain, no moon due to the storms in the area, and no to very little wind.

Yesterday I was on the bird, and that didn't go to well. I caught 2 2-3lbers on a ribbit frog. I was planning on heading out to bastrop this morning, but family ...more plans kinda nixed the idea. @matfeo
