We caught two spotted, one striped and a nice crappy today.. the Bass were out off the east face of long ridge, about halfway between the northern point and the cliff face in a little cove with two large brush patches now underwater, and a large dark block or rock or something up on the shore. right in between the two patches of brush (we all know the bass like to fish the shallow brushes when the water's in the 60's) so I hit the spot in our little boat with the fish finder on, and sure enough, in the middle of that cove there's a deeper pit, about 15-18 feet in the middle and rises up on all sides.. the fish finder went crazy over that spot, so we went close to shore, tossed the anchor over a large boulder underwater and backed out to the edge of the pit and I cast into it and the wife and daughter fished worm and bobber, daughter using shiners, wife using nightcrawler, at about 7-9 feet and within 20 minutes they had three keepers.. I'm sure there were more there as well, but the wind kept up and got worse and we could no longer hold position with the anchor so we bailed south to the east side of the dam and caught some catfish, brim and a good sized crappie off one of the private slips. (we had to run from a heavy windstorm that swept in and hide in there.. I've only got a 16.5 foot v-hull and a 40 hp outboard.. we can't weather that kind of wind so the people there were kind.. I got free beer, a couple shots of malibu, some great stories and saw the pictures of two monsters 'Larry' pulled out of his slip from the nose of his houseboat a couple weeks ago, to wit, a 38 pound striped bass, and a 29 pound walleye.. I saw both the pictures.. no tall tale.. amazing.. just... wow... they ate them afterwards.. I would have too. :D
