1. Fish just don't like me here. Last time was way to hot. Now it's way to windy and chilly. Do people actually have any luck at cross creek????

    1. Heidi C 0
Jim, hope to have better luck next time. It gets so cold by the lake and we Didn't come to prepared for the chill. I should've known better.
    2. Heidi C 0
Just a mix of lures. The shop was closed up there or we would've had minnows and works.
    3. Heidi C 0
      Worms*
    4. Frank Yamada 0
I caught a lot of bass last weekend, and 11 this morning. What bait are you using?
    5. Kevin McCarthy 0
      It's trout season!! Lol!
    6. Jim Holland 0
nah, you don't have to wait till spring/summer. In fact, fall can net you your personal best. They are gonna feed up for the winter. Just gotta know how to read ...more the weather and be on the water at the right time.
    7. Heidi C 0
Now I'm looking forward to spring/summer and fall just started. Lol.
    8. Kevin McCarthy 0
I would say it's the cold temps !! I don't think they stock trout there! Bass are slowing down!
    9. Danny King 0
very hard but when u do fun times
    10. Jim Holland 0
I know 2 visits ago, I caught 1 Bluegill. Last time, it was El Skunko. With the cold snap, today, I'm thinking the fish got lockjaw, so don't fret. This ...more time of year, try fishing any coves or bays you have access to. They'll be following baitfish, and baitfish SHOULD be moving back into the shallowest parts of bays, soon, if not already. Hang in there.
    11. Edward Payne 0
Gotta talk to the bait shop peeps to get the info on the hot spots!!!
    12. Ron Salas 0
      I never catch fish

  5. My oldest daughter just hooked this one. It swallowed the hook to deep. Couldn’t get it out and by time we decided to cut the line I believe it died. Sad.

    Bluegill with a night crawler

    1. Heidi C 0
Lol Scott after we put it back In the water I was like okay why didn't I use it as bait since it died anyway. I need to focus!
    2. Scott Sorrell 0
Bluegills are so heavily populated that killing one here and there is not such a big deal.....I know that sounds cruel, but that's life sometimes.....Next time ...more keep it for catfish bait...lol
    3. Jim Holland 0
heidi, if you can get the hemostats on the eye, and push in the opposite direction, you can possibly get the hook out. Hard to say without being there.
    4. Heidi C 0
Much better!! Yum! Lol. I think I'd have better luck fishing out of my sons tank than in the lake.
    5. Edward Payne 0
Lol!!! I totally get it! I’m sure there’s plenty more Bluegill in that lake. No worries! Have a burger instead.......
    6. Heidi C 0
Only could see the eye of the hook, we had those hemostats. Gosh I felt so bad, lol. Ed, we don't eat fish but it does smells good. I just can't eat what ...more I see alive. Ha ha I'm picky I guess.
    7. Edward Payne 0
Put that little guy in a frying pan!!! LOL!!!
    8. Jim Holland 0
That's why I carry hemostats when I fish for panfish and trout. Allows you to get into those tiny mouths to retrieve a hook. Takes some practice, but most go ...more back, alive.
    9. Josh Sommerville 0
      Nice catch young ladyπŸ‘.
    10. Jimbo Harwood 0
      Dinner 😁
    11. b ripoer 0

  6. I hate when a hook gets stuck so deep in the poor fish and we can't get it out

    1. Earl Dhanse 0
Hooks are cheap, just cut the line. Most hooks will dissolve by nature.
    2. Heidi C 0
Got the video to work. Thanks Noah, very helpful info to know.
    3. Heidi C 0
I couldn't get the link to work. YouTube has a black screen.
    4. Noah Shapiro 0
      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TQRGP4dY2rI
    5. Heidi C 0
That's what I thought Noah. Makes me sad cause I said give it some water in between of trying to get the hook out and instead He just kept trying. Hope for better ...more circumstances next time.
    6. Noah Shapiro 0
Yep, nonetheless if you're gonna release the fish you want to have a net, so you can give it water in between getting the hook out or photos. I only keep my ...more trout out of the water for ten seconds or less but you could probably with bluegills go 20-30.
    7. Gannon Walles 0
They can live a long time out of water. But too long can stress them out and potentially kill them. Think of it as the fish can hold its breath as long as you can ...more hold yours.
    8. Heidi C 0
How long can a fish be out of water before it dies? Thanks for the tips. Can't wait to learn more and get better at all this.
    9. Noah Shapiro 0
You can also get long tweezers to both get the hook out and debarb
    10. Josh Sommerville 0
Thats fishing. Its good to cull fish out of the lakeπŸ‘
    11. Gannon Walles 0
Use long shanked hooks. It makes it easier to get the deep ones out. And if you can't get it out without hurting the fish just cut the line to where it sticks ...more out of its mouth. It can still eat and the hook will rust out in less than a month.
    12. Jimbo Harwood 0
that happens too some times.. happens to everyone.
    13. Heidi C 0
It just kept going further down
    14. perry dunn 0
I seen a little trick on you tube where the guy went in with a surgical nippers and turned the hook
    15. Heidi C 0
I think it died ugh figures
    16. Jimbo Harwood 0
it happens.. you can always cut the line... if its to deep so this way the fish lives. πŸ™‚

    6. Josh Sommerville 0
line prob break 1st but you can set drag to the line test and play the fish out.all just depends where lure is at in fish mouth ya know. ive lots of fish and nice ...more ones on 4lb test.
    7. Heidi C 0
      Spinner
    8. Heidi C 0
Also have a baitcast but will be using my spinner
    9. Heidi C 0
Say if a Muskie, walleye, or pike hook on is it gonna snap or would the line break off first?
    10. Josh Sommerville 0
      spinning or baitcast.
    11. Josh Sommerville 0
depends on what your tryin to catch.

  8. Newbie question: Fishing with 8 lb test. So anything large will snap the line then?? Might end up joining something much more than bass.

    1. Robert Coleman 0
It's all in your drag! You can land a huge fish on 4lb test if your drag is set accordingly. As long as they can take line before it breaks, you can land them. ...more May take a little longer, but it CAN be done..... see my post of Musky from last year!
    2. Heidi C 0
I wanna book whatever I can get but it's set up with 8 lb test 30 lb braid with a leader.
    3. Heidi C 0
      Hook*
    4. Chuck Runyon 0
Yea I have 8lb test on for bass, and you can go 30 lb braid with a leader and it the same diameter what are you after catfish carp
    5. Drew Gyang 0
Not necessarily. You can bring in pretty large fish with 8lb test. The bigger concern is a fish with sharp teeth biting through the line.
    6. Heidi C 0
      Hooking* not joining

  9. Hope this doesn't sound silly but I'm new at this at 35 years old haha, I haven't fished since my younger days up Tionesta..so What happens if I accidentally ...more end up catching a walleye, Muskie, or Northern pike at Lake Arthur.. they bite right? I don't wanna have to cut a line and leave a fish that way. Don't you need special tools for these types of catches?

    1. Heidi C 0
I'll have to find me some. Probably online is best so I can see reviews.
    2. Josh Sommerville 0
      yes there is.
    3. Robert Paholich 0
      There are cut resistant gloves.
    4. Heidi C 0
Really? Cause I felt 2 pairs and they seemed thin. I bet teeth would go right through those.
    5. Tomasz Jozwik 0
      Gloves will do!
    6. Robert Paholich 0
A net and pliers. You can also get a pair of fishing gloves to protect your hands if you hook into one.
    7. Josh Sommerville 0
      you'll be fineπŸ‘
    8. Heidi C 0
Thank Josh, hope to never get bit.
    9. Josh Sommerville 0
Good net and a set of pliers is all ya need.
    10. Logan Bach 0
Just use your hands it only would make a little cut
    11. Heidi C 0
Good times at tionesta. I've always been in Pittsburgh.
    12. Chad Jaco 0
Bring a net with you too!!! I grew up in Pleasantville about 15 minutes away from Tionesta. Small world!!!
    13. Heidi C 0
      Great,Thanks for the info
    14. Stephen Hovey 0
You need jaw spreaders. and forceps they are long needle nose pliers and if u want get some gloves so u don't cut ur hand on the gill plate any fishing store ...more will sell those things and a net makes it easier to handle them
