1. I had the pleasure of getting out on the water with Frank, today, at Cross Creek Lake. While I started the day strong, with two catches on a Popper, and the big ...more fish of the day on a paddltail rigged on an underspin, it was Frank who took me to school, landing 12 Largemouth, in all, all on a weightless Senko. It was a great day, and I got one HELL of a workout on the paddle back to the launch. I gotta get me one of those pedal kayaks!

Bill, 3s a good day. Just to be on the waters a good day. We are all blessed to be in good health, heck 1s a good day.
    2. BILL MACKAY 0
great day! I was out there for the morning but was only able to land 3
    3. Jim Holland 0
Thanks, Chad. Honored, since I've seen the tanks you have hauled in. Mark, yeah, it most definitely was. Yeah, I actually have a trolling motor given to me, ...more that I have tinkered with. Just haven't finalized a setup. Drew, it certainly was. Hopefully, we can team up, some time, as well. I always like sharing water with fellow anglers.
    4. Drew H 0
You guys had a good day!
    5. Mark Merlin 0
Be cool if some day, Me, you, Frank, Jeff and Rick(in a yak) get together for a day of fishing.
    6. Mark Merlin 0
Jim, I remember your yak being big, can you mount a trolling motor?
    7. Mark Merlin 0
      Sounds like a great day.
    8. Chad Jaco 0
      Nice Jim!!
    9. Jim Holland 0
Yeah, and the weather was beautiful. They sprayed the daylights out of the lake, killing so much of the vegetation. So long as you could find some, remaining, you'd ...more find em. Frank's better at finding them. ๐Ÿ˜„
    10. Rick S 0
Sounds like you both had a great day!

  2. After a 2 week hiatus, I managed to get out on the water, today. Decided to check out Glade Run Lake. Was just reopened a couple seasons ago, and have never been ...more there. I knew the bass are still small and growing, so my expectations weren't high. Started the day with about 4 dinks in the shallows, and made my way toward the dam, where they got a bit bigger. Finished the day with the biggest, at 16 inches, all the way back near the boat launch, for a total of 7.

The little ones are still fun, 7 is a good day!
    2. Bruce Parker 0
16" Nice catch! Biggest I got there was 14. Great bass fishing for sure.
    3. Rick S 0
      Nice work Jim!
    4. Mark Merlin 0
I agree Jim. The weekends here are pretty busy. The same can be said for most lakes I think. With the virus, people want to get outside and fishing, kayaking, ...more boating are a great way to do it. While there are some 2 and 3 pounders in there, most days out won't be as rewarding as say going to Moraine.
    5. Jim Holland 0
Thanks guys! Yeah, I had held off going there, since it was all pretty new, and the fish are small right now, but I wanted to try someplace new. Don't know if ...more I'd go back. TONS of fishing pressure. Those bass are getting a crash course in lures!
    6. Chad Jaco 0
      Nice job Jim!!
    7. Frank Yamada 0
Nice, Jim. Iโ€™ve never fished Glade Run before.
    8. Mark Merlin 0
Nice going Jim, wasn't easy out there today.

  4. Only caught 2, today. The one on the left, I caught before I even launched my kayak. Total dink on the right. That sun got brutal, and I was just cooking out there, ...more with little to no wind as relief. Then, right around 12:30, after having just cleaned my jig of vegetation for, like, the THOUSANDTH TIME, I got what I thought was another load up of vegetation, behind me to my right. And, as I turn to look, I see this massive flash, gills and scales! She was hooked, but not well, and there was no way to get a good hook set on her, so she popped right off, not to be seen again. That one hurts. I KNOW there is at least one big one in here! I had my chance, and I missed it. Ouch!

Mammoth lake! Want to try that place eventually.

  5. I noticed that, when fishing Old 422 Launch, I immediately head to the Lily Pad Field, right at the launch. Started to question that approach, so I took a different ...more route and worked backward, today. Well, as luck would have it, the weeds were much thicker than I anticipated, and things also cooled down. Only one caught, all day, 1 hour in. Had half a dozen frog blowups in the pads, but none of them connected. Spent most of the day, hunting down that frog bute that never happened. Needless to say, I left, today, feeling aggravated and defeated.

Upper is where I caught my 5lber.
    2. Jim Holland 0
Haha! That's what I keep reminding myself, Drew! Mark, yeah, I had better luck in that area, earlier in the year. I though of checking out Upper 528, but decided ...more to go with what I knew. So much for THAT, huh? ๐Ÿ˜
    3. Drew H 0
      No skunk though!
    4. Mark Merlin 0
Jim. I've had little success in that part of the lake this year. Both 528 launches are producing for me though. At Moraine, unless you can move around like ...more Rick does, Kayak fishing can be tough if you choose the wrong spot.
    5. Jeff B 0
Days like this make us appreciate it when the bite is on. Next time Jim, I can FEEL IT! Thank you for sharing.
    6. Jim Mortell 0

  6. Biggest one of 6 bass for the day. Ironically, also the FIRST bass caught, today, on the Booyah Toad Runner. I think all the rest came on a 412 Phase IV Spinnerbait ...more and Gary Yamamoto paddletail trailer.

  7. Decided I hadn't fished an evening bite in a while, so I headed over to Peter's lake, which is where I first started kayak fishing, 5 years ago. I sometimes ...more call this place Dinkville, and it didn't disappoint. picked up 3, and lost about 5. Almost all 5 came off, next to the boat, by jumping and throwing the lure. it was weird, the consistancy, and 3 of them did it in about less than 19 minutes time. Oh well, better than the skunking I was given at Arthur, the day before. come to think of it, the only fish, there, came off next to the boat, too! wuh??......

agree they are just DEEP many times and do sit shallow sometimes
    2. In the spring snapped my UL rod tip off on a BIG BASS at peters lake I was using a white Bettle spin in about 3 feet...there are BIG BASS IN PETERS LAKE just hard ...more to find....
    3. Drew H 0
the little guys always seem to get off easier than the big guys. Still fun to catch em! Peters is def a dinkfest (aside from that big one i got!), but its a pretty ...more lake.
    4. Rick S 0
Big or little it doesnt matter they're all good! and we all loose them on occasion its sll part of the game...you're out there catching them wtg !

  8. Caught 5, and missed 1, today, at Canonsburg Lake. Hadn't been there in quite a while, and I decided to do some exploring in the upper shallow section. Water ...more was way muddier than I anticipated. Caught 3 on a black Whopper Plopper, and 2 on a Bagley squarebill. Managed to paddle all the way under Rt. 19 to the small spillway upstream. Got rained on several times, but I didn't care. Helped wash off some of the black muck.

sad the lake is silted in If the top half or less than 2 feet deep I could actually hold something more than carp
    2. Brett Lang 0
I have caught at least 3 - 4 lb fish there over the years. lately Everythnngd 3 lbs and belie
    3. Jim Holland 0
Yeah, I noticed that, too, Frank. I think with the dirtiness of the water, the sun just never seems to cut through the water too much, there. So they always look ...more pale. Silly me forgot how turbid the water there can be. I was gonna practice drop shotting! Not if ya wanna catch much, there! I felt the swim jig I was using at one point, was providing enough signal, and, as soon as I switched to an aggressive squarebill, I loaded up on my 4th fish. The 5th one came off it, too. The first three were off a black Whopper Plopper 75.
    4. thats a good day out.
    5. thats a good day out.
    6. Frank Yamada 0
I used to live out that way and fished the lake often. Those are great sized bass for Canonsburg. The bass are usually lighter, almost milky, once you get shallower ...more in the muck. Great day, Jim!
    7. Jim Holland 0
Thank you, Rick! Brett, no I caught them all BELOW 19. Just traveled PAST the 19 overhead. Ted, I've heard stories, but that was in the past. personally, ...more I don't think I've caught anything past 3. Some kid claims he catches 5s all the time, but I remain skeptical.
    8. Ted Polanowski 0
They say there are som big bass in there and they eat the trout I would like to fish that lake with an 8 inch trout colored swim bait๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ
    9. Brett Lang 0
Canonsburg lake has a very bad smell to it. so you caught them above the bridge toward 19

  9. Didn't get skunked on my first trip ever to Dutch Fork Lake, but didn't slay em, either. Only Bass I landed was the only Bass I saw all day. It didn't ...more help that I left my terminal tackle at home, so I had to essentially go with what I had tied on. More Carp and timber than anything else, there.

  10. Rough day on Cross Creek Lake. Rained off and on, windy off and on, lost more than I landed, snapped my spinning rod in two, and almost snapped my jig and frog rod ...more to a submerged wood slab. Caught the Bluegill toward the end of the day. Didn't understand why my popper was doing weird stuff after a missed bite. turned out, I didn't MISS the bite. He was just so small , I couldn't sense him on there.

    Largemouth Bass

    1. Jim Holland 0
You know what, Rick, you're right! Didn't think of it, but that's what seemed to happen at Cross Creek, too.
    2. Rick S 0
Struggled at Arthur also, seemed like after the rain passed the fish took a nap.
    3. Jim Holland 0
Frank, yeah I had this little blow up. thought I missed it, but popper kept doing something weird. Finally, I happened to just catch a glimpse. Damn thing's ...more about the size of the popper! Drew, I got there at about 6:30 and launch at the damn end. Didn't pull the popper out till around noon, when my main spinning rod snapped. Mike, the weeds are sort of in a patchy mode right now. Some areas look wide open, till you get up close, and see all of it just below the surface.
    4. Mike Schrier 0
hows the weed situation? last I saw was mid die off. gave up going there til I know its cleared.
    5. Drew H 0
Jim were you there early this morning? Saw a guy fishing a popper early on.
    6. Frank Yamada 0
Those bluegills at Cross Creek can get really aggressive!
