Been catching some river smallies roughly about this size for the past couple of weeks.Most of them came off of some eddies during high water and few off of taper-ups ...more when the river was back down to normal levels.Green Pumpkin Bitsy tubes and pumpkinseed curly tail grubs deadsticked or drifted were the presentations that worked most of the time.

Smallies have been really aggressive on the river.Tried out tubes and grubs but the fluke in white or smokin shad colors was the only thing that they would bite.Pitching ...more the fluke into shade tight to the bank or erratic twitches above small pools were the main tickets today.

Biggest one of the day was this really dark 19" smallie.Saw him cruising near some rip-rap,took the grub as soon as it hit the water.Most smallies were caught ...more in about 3 to 6 FOW near grass patches and long shallow gravel flats.

Lots of smallies on beds and some chasing minnows and eating crawdads.Casting out to the main current and then dragging the fluke along a gravel flat caught this ...more chunky 15".Missed a lot of other fish to.

Trophy Smallie on the South Fork.Drifted tubes along some hard bottom and grass patches in 10 to 5 FOW.Found a school of them and this was the biggest one I got ...more of it.Also had a 4" Crawdad down its throat.Might be my new PB. 21"~4.2lbs

Chunky 17" smallie hit the swimbait on fall.Just slowly retrieving the swimbait through the current.Tried out rattletraps,jerkbaits and craws with no luck,so ...more I just stayed with the swimbait.Caught 6 more between 13"-17".Good day to be on the river.

Had a slow day at the North Holston.Pitched the tube in front of a rock pile and this guy hit it on the fall.Caught several smaller ones as the day went on.Mostly ...more in underwater eddies and small current breaks.Fish were scattered out on rock points/piles and gravel stretches.75 - 85 degrees,occasional 5mph breeze,scattered clouds.
