1. I can’t believe I was off the water for almost two months! Time really flies when you’re busy, but I just couldn’t say no to a night on the lake when I saw how beautiful ...more it was outside today. Pretty soon I’ll have to abandon the boat again and start gearing up for deer season! This was dad’s big catch today, but he doesn’t like being in front of the camera.

it does help! thank you very much!!! i went out there Saturday, no success, had a few bites on jerkbaits shallow but thats about it. i guess i was just so excited ...more that i finally got the boat out that i completely forgot to use any plastics or even fish deep lol. will def try your tips this weekend. thanks again!!!
    2. I'm so sorry I didn't respond to you sooner, it's been a crazy week. It's hard for me to give any advice right now since I've only been out three ...more or four times this summer but I'll share what has worked for me in recent years. I fish weedlines and channels, mainly in the White Oak Creek and Little White Oak Creek arms during the spring and summer (I focus on hunting in the fall), and I use soft plastics for the most part. Weightless texas-rigged senkos are my go-to and as far as colors go I usually stick with green pumpkin, watermelon red flake, or black blue flake. Stick-o worms from bass pro are a cheaper alternative and don't fall apart as quickly as Yamamoto senkos. Mann's 12 inch blackberry jelly worms, texas-rigged with a fairly heavy bullet weight work well in super thick grass beds since they have a high profile. Other baits we've had success with in the past are topwater poppers/frogs, a strike king square bill crankbait (2.5) in shad color, a strike king red eye shad in shad color, and a black/blue chatterbait. As far as spots go I've put all of my catches since the summer of 2016 on the Fishidy map and there are several spots that other anglers have posted so that would be a good place to start. I hope this helps, good luck!

  2. Well today was a roller coaster. Started off with a nice 4lb+ largemouth that chomped down on my finger and wriggled free while I was trying to remove the hook from ...more its gills. That was the first fish I’ve ever completely failed to remove a hook from and I still haven’t forgiven myself. A few minutes later I missed a good bite, then a few minutes after that I hooked this behemoth. Thought I had the bass of a lifetime on the line until I got it next to the boat. Pictures cannot do it justice, it was well over two feet long and girth must’ve been around 16 inches. This thing did not stop fighting until I put it back in the water. It was full on hand-to-fin combat just to get the gripper in its mouth.

    7. They're native here in NC so I always put them back.
    8. Scott Cochrane 0
You put the boffin back in the water? Here in Fla. they ask that we kill them, because it is an evasive, non-native fish.

Ok, there may have been a tournament going on too, because there was a bass boat in every cove on Wednesday. I’m not really sure though
    5. Daniel- The Crosspoint boat ramp has been extremely crowded the last couple months due to the Holleman's Landing boat ramp being closed for renovations. It was ...more just reopened on Friday so there shouldn't be too much traffic at either ramp now. It can get a little busy on the weekends, especially during the summer, but it's generally calm.
    6. Daniel Young 0
That’s a great fish Kaitlin. We have been fishing Falls Lake for the past 2 days. We fished Shearon on Wednesday but the traffic was unbelievable....,is it always ...more that heavy? I was down from PA and noticed that you fish Shearon a lot, that’s why I’m asking

North Carolina. I usually fish the South Fork or Middle Fork of the New River. It's easy to wade in, and some sections of it are stocked so there are plenty ...more of trout year-round.
