Haven't posted in awhile but I've been active. Slow rolling a spinnerbait last November and lucked into this monster. "Fish of 10,000" casts only ...more took about 3 😂😂. Heck of an animal, 39" and safely released after a few pics

      Nice fish.
  2. Details: Bluegill Sunfish

One of 94 keeper bluegill we caught today on a couple of different beds. Bay we caught them in had everything a bluegill needs: soft gravelly bank, wooden cover, ...more and very shallow water. Water temp 82*, air 88*.

Got on a bluegill bed today on green river lake and absolutely tore them apart. Started off crappie fishing and caught 4 shorts before moving to a spot we felt good ...more about for bluegill. After searching around a bit we got on a bed in about 4 fow by a gravelly bank. The bed was about 5 feet across and it was a guaranteed hit if you stuck your worm on it, slammed 60-some keeper bluegill before giving

  4. Details: White Crappie

Total SLAB my dad caught while we were slamming postspawn crappie at green river lake last week. Water clarity was about 4-5' which is ultra clear for GRL, fish ...more were wanting all natural colored jigs that day like pumpkin and shad patterns. Picked up the most bites vertical jigging, slowly rising and dropping the lure, fish would hit it on the fall. 82* air, 74* water temp. Wound up with 14 keepers

This one was clearly just off a bed, as you can tell from its torn up fins and tail
  5. Details: Largemouth Bass

Another good one on a lipless crank, I'm guessing 2.5-3 lbs. He crushed it right after I pulled the lure out of a snag. 66* overcast with light wind made the ...more bite hot today. Fish were actively pursuing bait in open water, all fish were caught in 4-8 fow. St. Croix Mojo Bass Crankster-- 7'4 fiberglass in med-mod. Daiwa Exceller HA 6.6:1.

  6. Details: Largemouth Bass

Little guy on the lipless crank at my buddy's pond, opened up with a brush hog and caught 6 before switching to the Redeye shad about an hour before sunset and ...more cleaning up 8 more. Stop and go retrieve was key, every fish hit right when I killed the bait. High pressure day, sunny, 62* air temp and partly cloudy, fish were fairly slow for the majority of the day

  7. Details: White Crappie

Cold front came through this weekend and backed the crappie out to the front of creeks. Still managed to stick 32 keepers over brush at the mouths of feeder creeks ...more despite the fact that the water temp dropped from 57 to 51 in two days. These crappie were still feeding hard and amazingly aggressive. Should be in full spawn within the next couple of weeks.

      Great info!

Also, males are starting to show a touch of darker color on their bellies. Get ready for the spawn!!
    3. Seth McDowell 0
Air temp 32 degrees in the morning, warmed up to 43 by the afternoon
    4. Seth McDowell 0
They hit a variety of colors as well, which shows how hard they're feeding up now

So I'm trying to get started fly fishing and I love coming here for advice on rod/reel combos so what would be a good entry-level fly rod and reel? I'll ...more mostly be using it for fishing bluegill beds in May, but I want it to be versatile enough for trout and bass too. I'm currently looking at the Redington crossover 9ft 5weight, any comments on that combo or other suggestions would be great

    1. Chris Skinner 0
I don't know how much you're wanting to spend, but the Cabela's RLs combos are 50% off right now down from $315
    2. Chris Skinner 0
The dogwood canyon is nice, Cabela's three forks/wind River combos are also excellent for the money. A

Go to L.L Bean they have excellent quality combos.. I wouldn't get this one because I believe the reel casing is plastic

Took my mom out to try to show her how to catch crappie. Immediately after I finish telling her to quit casting to the bank, that the fish aren't going to be ...more up that shallow yet, she hooks up on a 3 pound drum in about 6 inches of water. What do I know right? Pretty cool watching her fight it on a cheap little ultralight spinning setup too

  10. Details: White Crappie

Slab we caught today in a big submerged tree, fishing 6 ft deep in 8 fow. Fish are starting to move up during this warm trend, steep banks with a 45 degree drop ...more and structure along them are producing the most fish for us. Here the wind had blown baitfish up against this bank, and of course, the crappie followed. Get out and fish the prespawn, caught around 40 fish each of the last three days
