I just purchased a medium Berkley amp rod for my 7 year old son for around 20 something bucks on Amazon and I and my son love it.I don't think it could be beat ...more for the price,it has a very nice feel to it.

I had a $79.00 shimano 7' sellus jig/ worm rod with sedona reel combo that was pretty darn sensitive and well built compared to much more expensive rods I lost ...more it in the Delaware river unfortunately I do think the Lews and diawa and pfluger combos are very good aslo

may sound a bit odd but I use the lews laser zr speed spool im6 graphite combo its a baitcaster combo for 79 bucks at Wal-Mart I use 8lb line dropshot setup catch ...more lots of fish on dropshot, I felt a bite 25 feet deep off a less than 1 lb bass that I caught on the last trip with slight wind, it holds up with a 4 lb bass no problem, and its something you could put other baits on

Sorry I didn't see the tube part in your post. If you wanted an all around rod that could do both a tube and drop shot go with a 7 foot medium spinning rod. ...more It will definitely get the job done. The only thing you need to be sure of though is to get the light wire tube jig hooks. If not your rod won't be stiff enough to set the hook.

I love my St Croix Mojo Bass Spinning rod. It's 6'9" Medium with an extra fast action. It is super sensitive. I like the extra fast action because I ...more can shake and shimmy the worm without actually moving the weight.

Jared check out some of the Daiwa spin rods in the 30-40 range. Berkeley also has some lower cost finesse spin rods

Well I dont have a lot of dropshot experience but have a finesse fished a lot. I have 6'6 medium pflueger trion which is an awesome rod but it comes in combo ...more for 60 dollars but the reel is pretty good too.
