1. Details: Northern Pike with a Jumbo shiners

Went out with a buddy for my final pike fishing trip of the season this past weekend. We landed 6 northerns between us. My buddy moved his tip up out of an area, ...more which I disagreed with, because it was a hot spot all year, so I drilled a hole within 10 feet of where his tip-up was, and within 15 minutes I landed this 42" beauty! Snapped a couple pics and she is swimming again.

38" pike..... OBVIOUSLY my buddy is not good at taking pictures holding fish... LOL

    1. Drew72 0
One of the things I miss most about fishing up north - the mad scramble for the tip ups!
    2. Nate Rozek 0
      No rods... Tip-ups @drew_hoogendam
    3. drew_hoogendam 0
What kind of rod do you have?
    4. Nate Rozek 0
@hillbillyDeluxe one of many. :) tip-ups are too much fun, especially when they are a free for all! Lots of tripping and tackling going on! Lol
    5. mike joppeck 0
Get him on a tip up

      Nice
    2. Darren Cossette 0
      Oops @MadtownMonsters
    3. Darren Cossette 0
Awesome, keep them coming, around here anything over 34" is a beast. The lakes are heavily fished, I usually have to go up north an hour for something decent ...more @madtown
    4. Nate Rozek 0
They are 80+ feet deep in spots.... Challenging fishing, but once you find where they are, the fishing is fantastic
    5. Nate Rozek 0
@walleye72 the DNR stocked to bejesus out of the lakes in Madison. One of the lakes is for trophy pike and smallmouth. The other is for trophy walleyes and muskies.
    6. Darren Cossette 0
Wow, I thought you had to be north, do you regulations to help the fish get bigger? @MadtownMonsters
    7. Nate Rozek 0
      @walleye72 Madison, WI
    8. Darren Cossette 0
      You up north? @MadtownMonsters
    9. Nate Rozek 0
@walleye72 yeah.... We are kinda spoiled.
    10. Darren Cossette 0
You sure have some good fishing in WI. @MadtownMonsters

Long run.... But fruitful We had to spread out our tip ups far from camp because of the thin ice. Fished on 10' of water. Ice was 5" thick

@MadtownMonsters ya hay dere up nort!
    2. Nate Rozek 0
This is Wisconsin. ;) Home of beer, cheese, and brats
    3. Nate Rozek 0
      @MulletHead HAHA! Never. ;)
    4. Gabe Mitchell 0
      👍👍👍
    5. Gabe Mitchell 0
I'm sure there's no beer drinking involved either....
    6. Nate Rozek 0
When a fish bites and pulls line out, that spins the trigger on the tip-up which allows the flag to fly up.
    7. Nate Rozek 0
@MulletHead yeah kinda. You drill holes with an ice auger about 30 yards apart around the pop up shacks/grill/and gear and then put in tip-ups. Tip-ups are basically ...more a dead stick stand alone device.
    8. Gabe Mitchell 0
So you you setup a shanty then have a bunch of other holes around it? Holes don't freeze up? Never been ice fishing but looks fun
    9. Nate Rozek 0
@MulletHead thanks man. I swear the fish could hear us running for those flags. Lol
    10. Gabe Mitchell 0
      Awesome pic

    2. JustinGoodman 0
      That's sick
    3. Nate Rozek 0
@MulletHead @JustinGoodman a special pike is considered over 40". In this lake they are abundant.
    4. JustinGoodman 0
@MulletHead haha right. That's a awesome fish man. Thats something that is still on my bucket list for sure.
    5. Gabe Mitchell 0
How big is "special" in your book ?
