1. Details: Largemouth Bass

Randall Tharp wrote a great article. I'm sure we all know someone who thinks they're a professional but really isn't. A professional is someone who makes ...more a living off what they do. If you don't make a living off fishing, you're not a professional fisherman. Just my two cents. Feel free to discuss below.

    1. TylersReelFishing 0
Everyone else seems to care. It shouldn't matter
    2. atxflyfishing 0
dude idc what you call yourself lol @TylersReelFishing
    3. TylersReelFishing 0
Would it make all of you happier if I changed my title to "aspiring pro angler"? @whitebass_81 @atxflyfishing
    4. TylersReelFishing 0
      Okay, that makes sense…
    5. whitebass_81 0
Not making fun of you, I am tagging you in a post.. @TylersReelFishing
    6. TylersReelFishing 0
Not sure why yall are always feeling the need to make fun of me
    7. TylersReelFishing 0
I have one sponsor and that is PowerPole. And Randall's article was about conducting yourself in a professional way, not about the difference between real and ...more fake pros.
    8. @atxflyfishing agree. I choose not to fish with those types of people though.
    9. atxflyfishing 0
@MagicYaker I don't really care either until they start to think they're above other fishermen because they have a sponsor or 2 and think they're a pro
    10. I say let them do what they want and don't judge. We see the real pros doing what they gotta do and learn from them. Someone saying "im a pro" does ...more nothing for me.
    11. crookcody19 0
Agreed. I think people now a days are to worried about getting big sponsors and free stuff.
    12. atxflyfishing 0
      Lol @lawson88fish
    13. Conner Mahan 0
I wish they had high school tourneys around here and could not agree more
    14. crookcody19 0
I'm just in it for fishing.
    15. lawson88fish 0
      Shots fired ^^
    16. whitebass_81 0
      @TylersReelFishing
    17. ethan_aaron12 0
So true and @atxflyfishing is right there are some people who think that if they can catch 1 big fish than they are a pro
    18. atxflyfishing 0
couldn't agree more... definetly some people on this app like that

      Oh got it
    2. Joey Russell 0
I didn't say there were, I meant to say some lakes are becoming clearer due to them. @yich4
    3. Richie Pusateri 0
I do not believe there are zebra mussels in lady bird but I could be wrong
    4. jason felter 0
      Awesome fish and picture man!!
    5. nobama 0
Nice! Did u weigh? I haven't caught a big one in a while! Been a slow winter on the bird.
    6. Joey Russell 0
      @TennesseeTroutboy
    7. Joey Russell 0
Some are, some aren't. It's all based on the amount of grass and most recently, the zebra mussels. This lake has lots of grass, making it clearer. @tennessetroutboy
    8. Grady Stracener 0
It was pretty good today I caught a lot of chunky ones
    9. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Wow I thought the lakes were muddier in Texas
    10. Joey Russell 0
Yep. In the summer, it's matted over with hydrilla @TennesseeTroutboy
    11. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Is it like that year around
    12. Joey Russell 0
      It's crystal clear @TennesseeTroutboy
    13. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Is that water very clear or is it just the picture

  4. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Topwater and shakey heads

Good tournament today on Travis with @jonathangray, caught a solid limit and finished in third.

    1. atxflyfishing 0
@RyanEllis it's tough, we were struggling to catch a limit.... First time out there though
    2. michang5 0
Good work, Joey! Congrats on third!
    3. TylersReelFishing 0
Travis was especially rough on me. I expected to do better than I did on my home lake
    4. matthew johnson 0
      And lady bird
    5. Joey Russell 0
To be honest, most lakes around here are like that. Except for lakes like Austin, Fayette, and maybe Bastrop. @RyanEllis
    6. RyanEllis 0
That's good to know. I knew it wasn't as good at LA but wasn't sure about the tourneys. Good fish
    7. Joey Russell 0
Travis is a tough lake, first place was only 12lbs. Big bass was 4lbs. It's not like Austin. You'll catch maybe 30 13" fish and only 5 keepers. @RyanEllis
    8. RyanEllis 0
Not trying to start a fight. It's a good bad but the tourneys I have seen the winning bags have been around 18-24 pounds. But nice fishing and congrats getting ...more third.
    9. RyanEllis 0
No offense, but how do bags that small get third place? I would just assume it's a hard lake. Never fished tourneys before so I wouldn't know. Never fished ...more Travis either. @joeyfishes

    10. zach_pendleton 0
Have you taken it on the lake yet?
    11. Joey Russell 0

  6. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Jig

Super crappy conditions, drizzle and wind. Major cold front blew threw last night pushing the temps into the high 50s. Hopping the jig on the bottom.

  7. These fish might be easy to catch but make the most incredible and thrilling runs, especially on a spinning setup and 10lb fluoro. Caught a few grassies, a catfish, ...more and had a 15-20lb common break me off just as I was landing it.

Grass Carp with a Carolina rigged bread

    1. Joey Russell 0
No, I walked through a little alley between the two restaurants. I think it helps that I buy food from them too. @atxflyfishing
    2. atxflyfishing 0
That was last year it may have changed since then.... Did you walk through the restaurant to get there?
    3. Joey Russell 0
Really? They seem to encourage fishing there. @atxflyfishing
    4. atxflyfishing 0
@fierce_flies wild carp that don't eat people food are very smart, but like @joeyfishes said these are trained to eat and only take a few minutes to catch
    5. atxflyfishing 0
They let you fish from their docks? I've always gotten kicked out
    6. Joey Russell 0
      @erod
    7. Joey Russell 0
      Hulu Hut/Ables
    8. erod 0
Is that at the oasis in Austin?
    9. Joey Russell 0
Thanks, these carp are used to eating food that has fallen from the restaurant so they're sort of domesticated. But fighting them is why I fish for them, it's ...more such a thrill @Fierce_flies
    10. matt matt 0
Hey just to let you know carp are one of the smartest fish in the world and are extremley spooky and are very hard to catch! Nice grass carp though

  8. Not the best picture as the fish flopped away after I unhooked him. Lost an absolute giant a few casts before, nearly spooled me.
