Kept my limit of brighter fish.

These patterns are hand tied rabbit/marabou twitching jigs for coho and chum salmon. My jig tying has come a long way in three years and this is the result. Twitching ...more jigs is an effective method of salmon fishing in deep holding water and amongst cover. Often when salmon won't bite anything, they will smack a twitched jig. I use 30lb braid so I can pull the jigs off of snags without losing them.

I thought the fish I caught yesterday were big. This wild brute measured 42 inches. No idea how much it weighed.... At least 25, approaching 30? More? Big dude peeled ...more line like crazy right off the bat. I had to scramble up two rocks while fighting the fish with one hand and traverse 50 yards of craggy shoreline. You gotta go way back to find the lair of giants here.

I always seem hook the big fish on mismatched gear, so playing him on a light twitching rod made for some incredible runs. He needed little revival after being landed, he swam off strong as ever!!
