Thank you for helping promote the local fisheries. We are excited for our Youth Fishing Day coming up this Saturday. If, you could help us get the word out, we would truly appreciate it. Thank you for partnering with us for another great year. As our season is winding down we will be closing our shop for the season in October. But, we look forward to working with you in the spring as fishing season gets everyone out of the house after a winter of cabin fever.

Contributed by Darrell Kennedy of Angler's Landing (540) 672-3997. The water is clear with temperatures in the mid 70s. The fish are beginning to show signs ...more of transitioning from their summer patterns to a fall pattern. Both the crappie and largemouth bass are on the move, chasing schools of bait fish. Bass can be lured by anything resembling a bait fish when they are aggressively feeding during the low light periods of the day. While soft plastics are your best bet during the middle of the day for the bass bite. Bass & crappie are suspending in 8 to 10 ft depths. Crappie are hitting small minnows predominantly. Catfishing remains strong throughout the lake on night crawlers and chicken liver. We will be having our 14th Annual Youth Fishing Day on Saturday, September 21 from Noon. to 4 pm. Registration begins at 11 am. This is a FREE event open to the any youth that can hold a fishing pole up to age 16. Prizes will be given for all participants. The cooler nights and recent ...more rains have brought the water temperature down a bit. The cooler temperatures have triggered activity with the largemouth bass, as well as the crappie. Some nice stringers of crappie have been caught in 10 12 ft . deep; on minnows and jigs. Largemouth bass are hitting soft plastics and live minnows. Catfishing remains strong throughout the lake on live bait and chicken liver.

Largemouth bass have moved into their summer patterns. Bass are feeding on top water baits early or during low light periods of the day. Your slow moving soft plastics are best during the middle of the day in 8 ft. depths to draw the bass bite. Crappie are also in their summer pattern hanging out in 10 to15 ft. depths near brush piles, minnows are the bait of choice. Catfishing remains strong throughout the lake with the upper end being most productive on chicken liver and night crawlers. Noteworthy: Jimmy Seymour of Orange caught several catfish while bass fishing using a crank bait, one catfish weighing up to 8 lbs.
