Watauga Lake, located southeast of Elizabethton, Tennessee, is the local name of the Watauga Reservoir created by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) with the 1948 completion of the TVA Watauga Dam.
Flat head caught on bluegill cut bait
Caught this and a Large Mouth 2" shorter (previously posted) 5 minutes apart at Mallard Cove Marina off the dock.
Supports an excellent black bass and striped bass fishery with the majority of interest directed toward largemouth and smallmouth. Catch and release rates here surpass 90%. 4,510 acres
Much of the reservoir is in Tennessee so be mindful that you must stay on the Virginia side if you only have a Virginia fishing license and the opposite goes for Tennessee fishermen.
