There is no Open Season on Paddlefish in Pa, they were originally considered Extinct from Pa waters over 100 Years Ago, they were originally snagged for their eggs ...more and meat, they are in the Sturgeon Family and had fairly good Caviar, they normally only eat Plankton and small crustaceans (shrimp & crayfish), so they are almost impossible to catch legally in the mouth, I caught mine on a Tube jig while fishing for Smallmouth below the Outflow at Tionesta Dam. Pa started to reintroduce them to the Alleghany River in Pittsburgh back in the mid 90's, also, N.Y. started to put them in the Allegheny Reservoir in the late 90's, that's most likely where My fish came from, it must have came through the sluice gates at the Kinzua Dam! I either bounced My Lure into it's Mouth or it may have actually picked it up thinking it was a crawfish small enough that it could eat ? I had My GoPro on, so I did get some video, and was able to get a Few nice Pics before releasing it safely back into Tionesta Creek about 1 1/2 Miles from the Allegheny River ! I was Shocked when I saw what it was !!!
