Was ice fishing for the second time, newbie. Weight and measurement was estimated since I did not have a scale or tape with me and I had another tip up going off ...more and wanted to get to it, also get this fish back into the water first. Using live minnows about 2 ft from bottom on tip ups. I invested in a lot of ice fishing equipment to explore this and it was fun, but learning about it will take some time is appears. But still better than sitting at home or at work.

    Chain Pickerel with a chatterbait

Yeah, don't do that. For a pickerel, hold them around the gills, gill folds down. This guy freaked on me and slipped down a bit. Cool picture though.

just a suggestion its easier and safer to hold a chain pickerel by its gills
