  1. I was actually fishing a Whopper Plopper 110, when this one burst our of the water, 5 feet un front of me, like Air Jaws! I actually jumped! He completely missed, ...more so I grabbed my spinning rig with a Zoom Fluke rigged weightless, and pitched it in there. He totally crushed it, and I just lifted my rod, pulling him out of the water He thrashed the whole time, biting my thumb when I went to take the pic. Man, I love Smallies!

  3. Funny how the 16 inch smallmouth went after the smaller Rooster Tail, and THIS little guy chomped on the much bigger chatterbait.

Hehe! Yeah. I was dragging it, and he nipped at it, but I must've already pulled it a bit away from him. Pitched it back out, dragged to the same spot, and ...more he took it, then.

  8. So, I decided to play hooky, today. Turned out to be a grind, especially since, as I found out, there was a juvenile Muskie patrolling the area, which seemed to ...more keep the other fish away. Had him on this same squarebill till he jumped and threw it. An hour later, I managed to eke out this Smallie.

Thanks Rick. Yeah, this is right outside PNC Park in Pittsburgh. This stretch of the Allegheny is where I began bass fishing, about 3-4 years ago. I always return ...more to it.

  9. As I landed this one, a sea of applause broke out behind me. Pittsburgh was having some walk/run down on the shoreline, yesterday, and apparently, a group of people ...more had stopped to see me catch this one. Funny, almost made me jump! Shoulda been there for the Muskie!!

I'm not sure what "water steps" mean. The concrete warf along the stadiums is what I'm talking about.
    2. Heidi C 0
    3. Heidi C 0
Jim do you mean by the water steps? I boasted on the river before but never fished in there. I am scared of rivers. Lol
    4. Jim Holland 0
Thanks Mark. Heidi, The stretch along the North Shore in front of PNC Park is nice. In proper conditions, the smallies like to hold up along the warf wall or around ...more River Rescue. Of course there's always a Walleye or two and the occasional Muskie, as was the case THIS particular day. AND, of course, there's always people-watching. You see em' all down there!
    5. Heidi C 0
I live in Pittsburgh and have never fished the river yet! Wow lol
    6. Mark Merlin 0
That's a nice day of fishing Jim, wtg.
