  5. And my catch; my little popping frog is getting a workout lately! I hooked two other fish last night but lost them in heavy weeds. It's tough landing them in ...more the slop but I get such a rush out of the bites, I can't stop fishing it!

16 in. Largemouth Bass with a Popping Frog

    1. Shea Cook 0
I'm with you on the topwater fever. I'll take it while I can get it.
    2. That's the way to do it! The hard part here is there is a thick mat of primrose over the surface that the bass are running under, and that stuff does not break. ...more If a bass takes the frog and weaves the line across a couple stems of primrose, it's nearly impossible to get a solid hook set and completely impossible to pull the bass clear to the surface. A lot of the time I wind up charging into the weeds with the trolling motor and scooping up a lot of salad to find the fish underneath. Luckily that doesn't seem to scare the other ones away!
    3. Very nice Kaitlin! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
