  6. This lake might be one of the best kept secrets in all of Upstate NY. If you like to punch deep grass, or would like to learn how, this place delivers it to you. ...more However the fish here are very spooky. To really do well, anchor in the thick mats and work each opening over and over and over. Remember, bass are predators by nature and will move. Rather than fishing fast from one place to the next, stay and let the bass come to you. My best fish from this lake was 7lbs, and came in April during a snow storm. I've lost bigger than her here, and you'll need heavy gear if you're gonna get them out of the thick vegetation. By opening day there's only a small strip free of lilypads and grass that runs down the main channel. If you can, come in May when the grass is low and learn the terrain. This will help you understand the ledges and structure so you can have better luck in the summer.
For best results, fish the side closest to Rt. 41 from the dock down to the very end. For whatever reason, that side holds bigger and better fish than the side to the south. Good luck!
