  5. I had a good five days at Chautauqua Lake. Over 40 very healthy bass. Most were caught skipping under docks. The weather cut a few days short, and I got bit off ...more by a couple of muskies. Most of the bass were between 2 1/2 and 3 lbs and very feisty. The largest was 17 inches but a chunky 3 pounder.

  7. Last day at Chautauqua, and I caught my biggest fish of the week in a short morning session. Bite was slow this morning, but this one crushed my bait. 49 bass ...more in four and half days of fishing. I love this lake for the consistently large and healthy bass. Most of the fishermen are going for walleye or muskies. Skipping docks can get frustrating with the surface chop and strong current, and there is a ton of grass everywhere that mucks up your lures and boat, but the fish are worth it.
