  3. Can't say I was expecting this! Honestly, I wasn't expecting to catch anything! The water level was *much* higher than it was during my last visit, but that ...more didn't deter me. I used a sinking rig with a pencil weight, and worm hook. I was only using 8 lb. fluorocarbon as well, which snapped *just* after I brought it to land. All things being equal, I don't think I should have been able to catch this!

Regardless, I did, and this one was a fighter! I think I finally understand what other guys say when they talk about "the fight." My adrenaline levels were through the roof when I caught this thing!

Now to see how this thing tastes...

6 lb. 24 in. Channel Catfish with a Nightcrawler

  4. Quite a chunky one I caught yesterday! I was all rigged for steelhead, but they weren't in the area. I was about to pack up, when a friendly stranger pointed ...more out that there were a looot of suckerfish that I didn't even notice were in there!

I changed my rig to a simple small hook and worm with some split shot to weigh it down. The water visibility was great, so I could place the hook in front of the fish, and they would take the bait as easy as that!

I caught a total of 2 fish the whole day, but I'm more than satisfied with that, being that they were my first EVER river catches! I have a feeling that this novice angler might be getting better yet!
