Spots resemble LMB in coloration and shape. The exception is that the corner of the jaw does not extend back behand the eye. This trait is shared by the SMB. ...more The spot is also unique in that there is a spot on the bottom of the inside of the mouth we call a tongue. It is just really a spot that has raised bristle like projections. Basically a rough spot you can see and feel. If u did indeed catch a spot in the Rock it is huge news. Fish ID can be tough. My guess is you actually might have caught a huge Rock Bass. If so dinner is on. Great eaters and same bag limits as other pan fish. Pic pls.

Didn't think Spotted Bass were this far North. Possibly a LMB or SMB with irregular coloring. Any Pictures? Thanks for your River Report.

  9. Was just out night fishing for some catfish as usual and my pole starts hitting like crazy. As I got it up to shore I saw the head and thought it was a snake then ...more I proceed to pull it out of the water and this long body follows. It was about 3 1/2 feet long and was going crazy I couldn't believe it. As I was trying to remove the hook it broke my braided line and returned to the creek. Strong fish!!

Too bad the guys on "Alone" don't know that. Very dissapointed they didn't do more fishing. I'm 69 years old. The first nite I spent out alone ...more was in 1956, Christmas nite, my first camping gear was a coleman stove, cook set, kerosene lantern and a mosquito bar. Looks like there is plenty of meat for a starving camper, lol.
      Thanks Guy!
