Haven't been able to get out a whole lot since thanksgiving but today I gave it all day to get one. The bite has slowed down a lot from the cooling water temp. ...more Only had one run all day but it was a full speed heart pounding take that I have been waiting a lot for. Gave an impressive fight and came out to be 38" and very fat. Took a couple pics and released, hopefully not the last of the season.

Got one this morning on the last few minutes of the incoming tide. Bite died right at high and never picked back up, called it quits by noon. The mullet were not ...more there, only bait I had was what I could snag with a bottom rig and some old shrimp. Conditions got rougher as the day went on but I'm thankful I was able to hook into this big beauty. Great fight, fun as always, quick release after pics.

Got my roommate on a big drum today. They weren't biting great but when the run finally came we were ready. Got him the biggest fish of his life, his reaction ...more was priceless. He fought it very well for someone that doesn't fish to often and it completely trumped anything he had ever gotten before. Mullet was scarce and the bite was slow but I was determined to put him on one. Fight lasted 10minutes

    1. Sean Wilms 0
@snigaligdigit the moment will actually be a favorite memory of mine for a while
    2. Charlie George 0
      His reaction says it all
    3. Sean Wilms 0
73 air temp, SW breeze, very low tide, little mullet around, water temp in low 70s, current slowing to slack tide, not much baitfish of any kind, mostly cloudy, ...more slow but successful day

I've had one of the best weeks of my life and it got even better today fishing with my friend after classes. Through a live spot out into my favorite hole, only ...more took a few minutes and my reel went nuts. By far one of the best fights I've had so far, took about 15 minutes to get in and the drag was going nuts the whole time. Great fish at 43" and my third biggest so far, can't beat this action!

Today I had some time to get off campus and fish after class. Quickly lost most of my hope when I saw the ripping current, 20mph+ wind, and not a single mullet or ...more baitfish to be spoken of. I scrounged for bait using some old shrimp and a bottom rig and ended up catching a small spot and a crap ton of hardheads. When all seemed lost my pole finally went off and was the beautiful 38" bull red.

Its been almost a week since I got out fishing and THAT HAD TO STOP TODAY! Got out and made things right with these beautiful fish. Bite was super slow and bait ...more was non existent. I was able to scavenge up 6 live mullet and threw some out in the usual hole. Only had one run the entire time but it turned into this beautiful 37.5" bull. Was a fun fight on brand new braided line, very hard bull dog

    1. Sean Wilms 0
Dang that sounds like a neat trip if it happens @tampafish

Fished this morning on the incoming tide, my favorite time to get these reds. Was able to scavenge a few big mullet with the net but it was scarce. Bite was solid ...more for the first two hours. Landed this beautiful battle scared bull and missed a few others. Had one about the same size try to run under the dock and broke my line at a weak spot. Missed more bites then I care to admit and ran out of bait

    1. Sean Wilms 0
@King_Fisher there about the only species I've found and mastered down here so far. The rest have been alluding me
    2. King_Fisher 0
Man I'm jealous of those big reds you've been getting!
    3. Sean Wilms 0
Correction he was 39" not 45" like I'm the comment below, I don't know where that came from lol
    4. Sean Wilms 0
By noon and had to call it quits. No complaints though because even on an off day for my performance I still got one good one that measured out to be 45". Sunny ...more perfect 82 air temp, light NE breeze
