Excellent Muskie, Darren Been fishin' for only 78 years. Smallest….a SMALL bluegill from Lake Mead at age 2. Largest, a 6' 9 1/2" halibut in Alaska, ...more tipping the scales at 286# off the Kenai Peninsula. To word it nicely, it "Kicked my posterior." I learned, the lighter the line AND rod, the better the fight. My favorite....believe it or not, a Kencor XL1 with two pound test. A small crappie will bend it 180 degrees until landed. My heavy outfit, a Penn International two-speed 50 loaded with 80#. Now back in Vegas and ready to attack Mead and certainly zip over to Lake Powell for those FANTASTIC STRIPERS. On our first trip to Powell a few years ago, five of us were fishing in my 21' Chaparral bowrider. I was in the bow and was immediately hooked up. I hollered for the net. NO RESPONSE. I turned around and saw the other four guys were hooked up. It is AMAZING the number of stripers in Lake Powell. Taking the guys back there in November.
N O TE ! If you have a boat AND fisherman ready to go, call me! It would be fantastic to take a few boats. That way we could spread out and find the LARGE schools of stripers and radio us right over or vice-versa. Also, you could teach us to play poker! Yeah...right. The very best to all and to all...………….TIGHT LINES.
