Thanks Shawn, I have been using nothing but a steady retrieve with the plopper, gonna have to change it up.

Rich, This fish bit as soon as I engaged the reel. I saw her swirl on a shad the day before and couldnt get her to bite. The next evening I threw in the same spot ...more and she hit almost as soon as it hit the water. She was laying right next to a cypress tree in about 5 -6 foot of water.

Rich, I am not a politician but I am going to ride the fence. I use both. LOL I start out with a slow steady retrieve and if I get no blowups or some short strikes, ...more I try the stop and go, similar to working a jerk bait. Pop a couple times and then let it sit for a 5 - 10 seconds then pop pop again. Usually one of the retrieve styles will work. I have had a few days that they wanted it as fast as i could reel it with a 6 to 1 reel. Those days are rare but try when you know fish are in the area but wont bite it. I will tell you usually when they hit it, hang on cause they act mad at it and try to take your rod away from you. I have had several hit it right at the boat and nearly lost my rod.

Shawn do you use a steady retrieve with the plopper or a pop and stop?
