After the big fish stopped taking and the menhaden went offshore I decided to throw a gotcha plug around and see if I could pick up some Spanish macks that everyone's been talking about. Had to weed through a bunch of blues but eventually connected with a Mack. Then everyone took over my spot which was frustrating. Once they stopped I tried again and caught a nice 22" smack, hit my gotcha hard

Sean Wilms 0For sure. I've tried them before, i think they are very good fresh but freeze it once and it gets a very strong fishy taste @coolguychris

Sean Wilms 0@bassinboy01 bluefish was shark bait. But I had so much menhaden by the time I ran out and started using bluefish the bite died. I'll be back in a few weeks ...more next day off I get and get revenge

Sean Wilms 088 air temp, water temp in high 70s, good water clarity, vis of about 3 feet, clean, swells only 2-3ft, pretty calm, light offshore breeze, mostly clear skies, lots ...more of menhaden around, high tide.

Sean Wilms 0From beneath which was awesome! Very strong fight too. In total I caught well over a dozen smacks, about 3 dozen small blues?and a bunch of menhaden on the snag ...more rig. (And missed a nice shark)
